Japanese Food 100 – #54 Satoimo no Nikorogashi

Satoimo no Nikorogashi is a dish of taros boiled in broth, called ‘Nikorobashi’.
Satoimo means taro and niru means simmer in Japanese.
Taros are simmered in a pot with dashi broth, soy sauce, sugar and sweet cooking rice wine for flavoring.
Satoimo no Nikorogashi has little sweet and heart-warming taste and this humble taro dish is the taste of home cooking.
Many Japanese restaurants serve this dish. Also, you can buy at Sozai (side dish deli section) of supermarkets or department stores.
