Shabu-Shabu is very popular Japanese dish containing thinly sliced beef, pork or seasonal fresh fish quick-cooked in a watery broth together with variety of vegetables and tofu.
Called Shabu-Shabu for onomatopoeic reason.
The key for enjoying is to “Shabu-Shabu” (dip) it in the boiling water just for a few seconds,
and pick it up as soon as the color starts to change.
Shabu-Shabu is served together with Ponzu (Japanese sauce made of soy sauce, dashi and citrus juice) or sesame sauce.
You can try Shabu-Shabu at reasonable Japanese cuisine restaurants, fancy expensive Shabu-Shabu restaurants or All You Can Eat style Shabu-Shabu restaurants.
Shabu-Shabu is considered as one of the healthy Japanese food as beef or pork become healthy as the extra fat taken away during your “Shabu-Shabu” process.
