Japanese Food 100 – #18 Yakizakana

Yakizakana is Japanese traditional dish of grilled fish.
Yaki (Yaku) means grill and Sakana means fish in Japanese.
Fish can be salted, Teriyaki (sweet soy sauce) flavored, Saikyo-yaki ( grilled Saikyo-miso marinated fish), Yuan-yaki (grilled marinated fish), Kaba-yaki and so on.
Traditional Japanese breakfast, usually Ryokans (Japanese style inn) offer contains Yakizakana (usually, Himono which is dried fish) together with rice, miso soup and other dishes.
In Kaiseki Ryori, traditional Japanese meal brought in courses, Yakizakana dish is served as the 6th dish.
